Senator Win Gatchalian on Thursday called on the national government to intensify relief operations at evacuation centers near Marawi City as more than 200,000 Filipinos have been displaced by the ongoing battle between government forces and the Maute terrorist group.

Senator Win Gatchalian is pushing for the passage of legislation which would promote greater transparency in the government's monetary and fiscal policy direction through strict congressional oversight and mandatory disclosure of information to the public.

Senator Win Gatchalian wants to make funding available for electric cooperatives nationwide to make them more competent in disaster response and mitigation and prevent protracted power interruptions in areas hit by natural calamities.
